TOS says the same shit Beg For Mercy did 4 years ago u inept incompetent idiot, and C3 was completely different than anythng wayne put out b4 that. LAX and C3 will obliterate highs, mids, and lows 10 years from now, while TOS is another Curtis, but amazingly worse….please quote me on that. please. so how about u do yourself and the entire defsounds community a favor and do ur fuken job so u dont have 2 pik up thoz help wanted ads in 2moros paper cuz we all kno this recession is a bitch. thas just my 2 cents tho

All these Game stans are hating bc you gave the album a 7.5 rating…i think you gave a really fair review tho man…his lyrics ARE below average and he dropped Jay’s name on just about every track…his production was pretty good but he was still missing big producers like Dre and Timbo…which he had in the past

I didnt think LAX was a classic by any means and a 7.5 was a good review…i listen to the game a good bit too so im not a hater or anything

Yo i dont know if you got me confused with someone else…but i was saying I thought you gave a fair review on the LAX album….

Its kind of ironic that you commented me about that though because I was listening to LAX the other day and the more I listened to it…the more i started to like it so i was like damnnn maybe 7.5 was a little low for LAX, but it is all good and originally I HAD said that LAX was a little disappointing….

yeah i definitely agree about the Carter 3 being a 7…mad disappointment

Keep writing PCE

U need to check out this track and more from Angry Mic at myspace.com/bizoangrymic. This dude spits pure crack that a couple thousand people are already addicted to. Bringing multi’s, metaphors, similes, imagery, wordplay, vocabulary, and content back to hip hop. Everyone betta be readin up and checkin this kid out too cuz it’s inevitable this guy blows up. Brooklyn is tired of this nonsensical rap with funny fuckin voices and people braggin about money they dun really have. Pay attention cuz if you dun like this kid, u wouldn’t know real hip hop if it smacked u in ya face. This isn’t toughguy rap or gun music either, just shit you can vibe to and bump whatever mood you’re in.

And when your done checkin out the myspace u can download his latest mixtape/album on datpiff. It’s called Intervention, just search for “Angry Mic” and you can finally have sumthin you can bump for free, cuz thats what music and art is: property of the greater community.

Lyrical thought I am fairly new member here at defsounds, however I read a article today about how Lil Wayne became the so called “best rapper alive” through manipulation and by reading a book called “The 48 laws of power”. Here is the link to the articlehttp://realtalkny.uproxx.com/2008/06/topic/artists/lil-wayne/how-to-become-the-best-rapper-alive/

About Drake & Lil Wayne. The reason I like Wayne is his metaphors, punchlines, etc. To me his rhymes are creative, even if they stick to the same subject. Some shit they say I’m just like wow. I feel Drake has the voice/delivery along with the metaphors to be a great rapper. His lines are sick and in my eyes very creative. That’s why I think he is the next big thing, I like his style and it gets my attention.

(just coming from the drake article) ok, with that laundry list of overrated artist, you are going to have to tell the people some of your favorite artists…and I don’t want to hear your safe choices like Jigga, Nas, Mos, or Talib…I want to hear some that would have about half the people respond with “WTF?”

(coming from your Wayne II article)…thanks for the list of those that you think are better than Wayne…you went with some that no one would argue with but then you put some that people would definitely not agree with (you definitely gonna get mashed for Styles P and Beans)….

I wished you would have put a really crazy toss-in like Kool Keith, Gift of Gab, or K-Rino or something….tsk tsk

subject: lil wayne article

very well writen.. i agree with most of the points you made however i think you should have started listening at tha carter and stopped at “the leak”.. those were his best years. IMO the first half of tha carter is all classic material. Unfortunately, the second half is nothing to write home about.. i might in fact be listening the BMJR or Cash Money Millionaires when im 30….

my other question to you, lyrical thought, is WHO DO YOU LIKE? you seem to do an awful lot of criticizing. I know you like em, joey, and wale. can you write something good about an artist for once?

thanks-
dont shoot em (marley)

p.s. you write?

Let me start by saying, you wrote a very good article, and it was a strong argument on why he’s not the greatest rapper alive. There are a few things i disagree with. Lil Wayne actually has 6 solo albums, you forgot Tha Block is Hot. in my opinion The Carter II was actually a classic album, you actually saw deeper into him as person more than any other album. I think the statement best rapper alive was to put himself in the foreground, much like when T.I. proclaimed himself the king of the south. I was also disappointed with The Carter III. It was more of a store bought mixtape than an actual album, but it accomplished exactly what it was supposed to, gain the attention of mainstream(white) america.

Again, very good article.

wats up my dude, ok now I understand what you meant by those articles a whole lot more, I take back the statement saying you dont respect ppl who think wayne and drake are the best, but I still cant stress how much everything about how good these rappers are is all based on opinion not fact. I respect your opinions and get the impression from your writings that you are one of the more well educated writers on this site. To be honest im not a big fan of drake, I like the music that ive heard of his, I havnt heard a song I didnt like, I just dont follow his stuff so Im not the biggest fan of his in the world but not out of hate, out of ignorance. Wayne on the other hand, Im a very big fan of his, he is so unique in my eyes. If you take anything from my comments to bring with you into the future, just remember music is art/entertainment and that everyone has their own opinion on something and no one persons opinion is worth more then the next. I wanna see you say the term ‘in my opinion’ in ur blogs, unless its a factual news of course. Anyway keep doin you my dude, and btw, I always stay positive, Im deff not a hater in anyway. I respect other people as if they were my mother or father. Im a very open and optimistic person. Keep your head up and always….pceONELOVE….

I understand what you are saying about the recent Drake article (I like him a little more athna you though), however check out his (Drake) 2006 mixtape “Room For Artist”… this is clearly his best Mixtape. On it he has several songs with Nickel-Us F., “Am to Pm”, S.T.R.E.S.S, Money (Remix), and favorite “A Scorpion’s Mind”. This mixtape has no singing on it (released prior to him singing), but I’m almost positive it will address the fact that he has little range in song topics (Room For Improvement… he has many stressed, pain related songs, simlilar to my second favorite rapper Joe Budden.) Last, but not least Go check out one of Nickel-Us F.‘s mixtapes. His most popular, maybe his best (I’m not sure.), is “How To Build A Buzz For Dummies” this came out in 2007 and is a pretty good mixtape. Nickel-Us F. is from Richmond, VA… My home state.
Check out both of these mixtapes and let me know what you think about both mixtapes and Nickel-US F.

Subject: Wayne Is Over-rated article

First, lemme give you props for puttin yourself out there and stating your opinion on a subject that obviously a lotta people care about….whether in agreement or disagreement. All your articlesw seem well thought-out and come from a tru hip-hop head.

That said, I dont agree that Wayne is over-rated…Am I a fan of Wayne’s music, yes…I have listened to Wayne since THA BLOCC IS HOT, and still listen today. I dont think he’s the greatest coming of anything musical, but i have to say that how is production, revenue, work ethic, media attention, international fame not successful, or over-rated?

At this time and point (although im not rollin wit this rocc shit he’s doin)…Wayne’s critical acclaim comes from the fact that az much az he iz in the studio, az hard az he’s worked…..his creativity is paying off. His work-ethic in the studio is unmatched, and while quality is better than quality…no one ever got better by being afraid to fail…There will alwayz be a lot of misses to go along with the hits…By that Im meaning that If you, yourself “LyricalThought” released 3 songz on everyday of the year for 5 or 6 years, im sure every blogger would feel u lost your mind on over half of em…

No excuses for Wayne tho, there have been a lot of misses in the songz, and the lyrical contect, the subject matter in others, and you may feel that he does the same thing over and over while the UN-attentive fan may feel like he’s great….but there is something to be said that az soon az u post an article about this guy that sooooooo many bloggers claim to hate, all these Wayne haters bought AND listened to Carter III like tha rest of tha country….an if they didnt buy it they burned it, stole it, or dowloaded itz contents to see what it waz about…an that’s just truth. Of course you have to be well-informed to gain your own opinion, but that albums been out a year and their still jumpin on forums about it…

Also, while album-sales dont mean everything…they are a part of measuring success in the music game. So while Carter III waz by no means a classic album (i could’ve picced 20 songz from tha last 4 years of his recording that could make a classic album) still Wayne has definitely had an effect on music culture, and influenced other artists….

I see old white people in their cars wit songz from Carter III, Wayne had interviews with Katie Couric, and was recently on THE VIEW…He had his own blog section in ESPN the magazine…..These are things you would not expect if he were just simply over-rated….

The biggest part of this iz that Wayne (beyond this late in life blood affiliation) iz just doin him in the studio…..working hard, being creative (whether itz the drugs or not), gaining critical-acclaim just from the words he shouts, vocodes, whispers, mumbles into a microphone…that’s a powerful thing in itself….

This is just from a fan who does love the music, among all the other artists that you, Lyrical Thought, have been mentionin…..but i enjoy the music from afar, ive had tha chance to be @ concerts and meet Wayne, but i wouldnt want to….nobodys that important to me, personally….but I have to respect the music, because at the end of the day Im a listener az everyone else…and I cant deny that sooooo many traccz tha lil nigga puts out go hard,

Easycall
